Overview

Incumbent is responsible for providing direct service support to clients related to identifying, applying for and obtaining meaningful employment through community-based job sites.  Incumbent is responsible for ensuring clear and effective coordination with other employers as clients move through the employment process. Incumbent will seek out, create and maintain relationships with community-based employers who are willing and able to provide employment opportunities to our client base.

 

P/T Variable–(0-37.5 hrs. per week); hours per week will fluctuate, based on program need.  Looking for a candidate with the ability to work varying hours per week, between 8am-5pm, M-Fri.

 

Pay is $16.00/hr.

 

 

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Work closely with clients who are classified as chronically homeless as well as experiencing mental health issues to identify interests, strengths, skills, abilities, and challenges that will match them with appropriate jobs in the community.
  • Identify and arrange a variety of supports to assist clients in maintaining employment.
  • Provide direct advocacy and coordination for clients between CCS team members as well as community-based employers.
  • Identify and assess any barriers to employment, prior work history, and transferable skills. Develop individual employment plans for enrolled participants.
  • Provide supports through active engagement and coordination with the employers to mitigate any potential disruptions to client securing and maintaining employment.
  • Conduct job analysis as needed.
  • Assist clients with employment readiness, training, and employment placement utilizing agency approved tools such as the Employment Readiness Scale (ERS) and the Action Service Plan (ASP).
  • Assist clients with a desire to obtain competitive employment by focusing on the individual’s preferences regarding the type of job sought and the nature of support needed.
  • Identify and connect with community-based employers who will be a part of the strategic employment process with clients through systematic job development efforts.
  • Entering data into TARGET and/or the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Occasionally transport clients as needed.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM:

  • AA degree in relevant field PLUS 1 year providing services to homeless individuals with a unique understanding of barriers to employment OR 3 years' experience providing services to vulnerable populations (i.e. disabling conditions, homeless, etc.) with a unique understanding of barriers to employment.
  • Knowledge of community and employment resources.
  • Reliable transportation, current WA State Driver’s License & proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Acceptable driving record (Must provide driving abstract (full record) from the WA Dept. of Licensing).
  • Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.
  • Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork.
  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the preservation of a workplace that embraces diversity and inclusivity.
  • Criminal History Background Checks are required prior to employment.

PREFERRED:

  • Training and experience at providing Independent Placement Support (IPS) / Support Employment services to homeless individuals and/or unemployed individuals.
