The Josephinum is an historic high-rise building in downtown Seattle providing 221 units of low income housing for a diverse population. Our commercial tenants include a Catholic parish, Christ Our Hope, and Womens Wellness Center, A homeless women’s hygiene program and Share/Wheel, a non-profit self-managed shelter provider. The building is the largest property in the portfolio of Catholic Housing Services of Western Washington, and is closely aligned with the mission of the Catholic Church.
The Maintenance I position is responsible to complete the following:
Perform a variety of routine general building maintenance tasks, limited grounds maintenance and janitorial duties. Assist with non-routine preparations on units for new tenants. Assist with maintaining building security systems, immediately reporting problems to the property manager and entering units only as directed by the property manager within CHS guidelines. Seek to provide tenants with a safe, positive and sanitary living environment. Perform these tasks with minimum supervision, applying solid work experience in this area.
This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material. Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance, building temperature fluctuations, dust, noise, and odors. Other working conditions may include interruptions, working alone, evening or weekend work responding to emergencies, and interactions with angry, mentally ill or chemically dependent persons.
