Overview

Incumbent will be responsible for providing information and referral services for clients seeking to access the Everett Utility (Water) Assistance Program. This position will include screening clients, obtaining required documentation to demonstrate program eligibility and staffing clients with Program Manager.

 

This position is P/T, 15 hours per week.

 

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Track all incoming calls and voice-mails; return calls within the program-required time-frame; provide information regarding Everett Utility (Water) Assistance Program, including eligibility and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure coverage of walk in hours as scheduled.
  • Respond to phone inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Screen interested households to determine program eligibility.
  • Submit “Daily Activity Report” at the end of each work day.
  • Ensure contract compliance, particularly in regards to obtaining documentation demonstrating client eligibility.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of household information in compliance with related policies and procedures.
  • As appropriate, utilize motivational interviewing techniques to help the household identify goals towards increased self-sufficiency and provide information and referrals to programs that will assist the household to achieve aforementioned goals.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports.

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

  • 1 year college in human services or related field, OR
  • 1 year of direct experience working with low-income or homeless individuals/families in a professional setting OR
  • Volunteer experience in working with low-income or homeless individuals/families

NOTE: A substitution could be a combination of any of the items listed above that

equate to 1 year.

  • Reliable transportation, WA State Driver’s License & proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Committed to the principles of divergent cultures.
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Windows-based applications. Ability to use multiple data bases and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team model.

  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
  • Criminal History Background Checks are required prior to employment.
