Program Description
CCS King County’s Workforce Development program focuses on helping clients and staff begin and build careers in housing and homelessness services. Programs include three components:
- Aspiring Social Services Employee Training (ASSET) in-house training program that prepares clients for entry-level positions (operational)
- Social Service Provider Academy (SSPA) certificate programs in partnership with local colleges to help entry-level staff at CCS and partner agencies build their careers in housing and homelessness services (pilot phase)
- An in-house computer skills training program for students and CCS staff who have not had sufficient opportunities to learn the computer skills required for human services work (pilot phase).

Housing and Essential Needs is a statewide program and Catholic Community Services has contracted with King County to implement and deliver the prevention services locally. DSHS clients deemed eligible by DSHS (Department of Social and Health Services) to receive prevention funding to cover rental and/or utility expenses. Program staff will be located in offices throughout King County. It is anticipated that 1,800+ people will receive assistance through the HEN program in King County.

Benedict House is an innovative program that provides emergency shelter and transitional housing with supportive services for single homeless men and homeless men with children. This unique program incorporates two elements of the Continuum of care model emergency housing and transitional housing. The underlying purpose is to help residents rebuild their lives and to move them towards permanent housing, the third element in the model. Program Description
Housing and Essential Needs (HEN) is a statewide program and Catholic Community Services has contracted with King County to deliver the services throughout the county. HEN provides rent, utility, transportation, and essential needs assistance to disabled adults who are homeless or at-risk of losing their housing. Close to 3,000 people are currently enrolled in the HEN program, with new intakes into the “Transportation and Essential Needs” (TEN) portion of the program conducted every week. The HEN team has two case management teams, “Rental Assistance”, “Homeless Services & Intake”, a Resource team that supports all clients, an ORCA Lift program for delivering free yearly bus passes, and an Essential Needs team that creates hygiene & cleaning supply bags for all clients.
Position Description
Case Managers are responsible for all aspects of client services through the TEN and Homeless Services program. This includes: client intakes, assessments, setting goals and developing action plans, referrals and coordination with needed services, ensuring client eligibility, data collection and entry and maintaining client records including funds distributed to landlords.
