The International Foster Care Program provides long-term and short-term foster care to refugee/asylee and undocumented youth from countries around the world.

The International Foster Care Program provides long-term foster care to youth whose immigration status is pending resolution.  Most of the youth in this specific program are recent arrivals from Central America, but occasionally youth are from other countries.  This position requires you to work independently, and as part of a service team.  Youth may have trauma, cognitive delays, learning disabilities or other issues that impact learning.   The candidate will meet with individual students or small groups to provide tutoring and homework help. Most of the tutoring will be community-based to reduce barriers to learning.  The majority of youth need support with remedial math such as multiplication, division, fractions, percentages and ratios, but occasionally youth will need help beyond the remedial level.   The candidate should have familiarity with math concepts up to basic geometry and intermediate algebra.  There might be occasional evening or weekend hours depending on youth schedules, most of whom are in high school.  The goal is to provide education support and help program youth achieve academic success. This position is funded through a federal contract through the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and is part-time 10-15 hours per week.
