The Tahoma Family Center, housed in the renovated St. Leo High School Building in the heart of Tacoma's Hilltop Neighborhood, is the hub for more than 25 different programs. By carefully integrating our services with those of other agencies in the community, we are able to mend broken lives and nourish self-sufficiency within individuals and families throughout Pierce County.

 

Under the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, the accounting clerk will be responsible for processing of data entries and printing, mailing AP checks and providing clerical support to the accounting teams as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Data entries into MAS 200 of AP invoice batches
  • Printing AP checks have signer on checks & mailing checks with attachments.
  • Stamp “PAID” on original invoices and purchase orders for paid POs & invoices.
  • Filing journal entries and AP cash disbursement batches.
  • Boxing files from shelves when needed.
  • Bar coding for archiving.
  • Assist in providing information for the annual audit.
  • Copy POs & invoices of certain cost centers for billing.
  • Maintain AP check stocks & Purchase Order supplies.
  • Print 1099 MISC form to vendors at the end of calendar year.
  • Prepare bank deposit and process credit card charges.
  • Sort & distribute department mail
  • Sort & distribute payroll checks

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excellent organizations skills and ability to work in a busy and diverse environment.
  • Computer skills especially in Windows, Excel.
  • Ten keys by touch on calculator.
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment.

  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AA in Accounting or vocational school.
  • 3 years’ experience working in the accounting field.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a member of a team.
