Overview

The Single Adults Rapid Rehousing Program provides limited financial assistance and housing stability case management to clients experiencing homelessness in King County. The program assists clients in locating housing, addressing barriers to renting, and provides advocacy on behalf of clients with landlords. Housing Case Managers should expect to meet with clients at least monthly and possibly more depending on client needs. They will prepare both immediate and long term goals based on the progressive engagement model while providing the support to achieve these goals. They will also work collaboratively with organizational partners and landlords to ensure housing success.

 

This is a full time, benefits eligible position and includes generous paid time off.  Salary range is $18.37-$20.44 DOQ

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meet with prospective clients to determine eligibility and collect enrollment documentation.
  2. Assess clients for housing needs and develop housing stability plans to address barriers/goals.
  3. Provide life skills training regarding housing location, budgeting, tenant responsibilities, and other housing related skills.
  4. Provide housing location services as needed and advocate on behalf of client with landlords, debtors, and other parties.
  5. Perform outreach to landlords and property managers on behalf of the Rapid Rehousing Program.
  6. Maintain physical case files and database entry in accordance with agency standards.
  7. Work collaboratively with other staff to identify resources and services that can be used to better serve clients.
  8. Provide individualized case management for clients as directed by their stability goals.
  9. Employ crisis management skills where necessary to assist clients in difficult situations.
  10. Manage a case load of 17-20 clients in varying stages of the program curriculum.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and respect client privacy.
  2. Ensure clients guide housing search preferences and goal setting.
  3. Maintain accurate record of hours worked and submit timesheets on schedule.
  4. Attend required trainings as scheduled.
  5. Participate in staff and supervisory meetings as required.
  6. Participate in agency advocacy on behalf of the people we serve.
  7. Contribute to and support a positive, team-oriented, culturally diverse work environment.
  8. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Qualifications applicant must possess to be considered for the position.)

  1. Bachelor’s degree in social services or a related field.
  2. At least one year of experience in direct provision of social services, preferably within homeless housing or housing placement programming.
  3. Understanding of issues homeless families often face, including alcohol and drug abuse, mental illness, domestic violence, and long-term homelessness.
  4. Understanding of barriers for homeless immigrants and refugees.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  6. Excellent computer skills, with ability to maintain complex client records.
  7. Valid Washington State driver’s license.
  8. Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.
  9. Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
  10. Criminal history background checks are required prior to employment. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Master’s degree or higher in Social Work or a related field.
  2. Fluency in second language that is spoken by a substantial number of King County clients
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HMIS.
  4. Experience in Real Estate or Property Management

SUBSTITUTE QUALIFICATIONS: (Qualifications, which may be substituted for minimum qualifications.)

  1.   A combination of education/training, and documented knowledge/skills and experience may in some cases substitute for the BA requirement.
