On Call Driver - Lewis Co

Part Time - On Call

$21.11 - $22.38 per Hour DOE

 

The Senior Transportation Program provides transportation to medical & social service appointments, as well as shopping services throughout Lewis County. The program is for anyone who is at least 60 years old that has no other means of transportation. There is no cost for the program, but donations are greatly appreciated and helps keep this program going. We can travel as far north as Seattle or as far south as Portland.

Under close supervision, operates transportation vehicles of various sizes for assigned routes, for scheduled pickup assignments, and in accordance with specific manifest instructions; provides safe, secure, comfortable services to users of the CCS transportation system.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

 

• Operates a variety of CCS vehicles according to established schedule, assigned routes and specials excursion plans; provides assistance to passengers as needed, and assures passenger comfort and safety.
• Provides safe, secure, comfortable services to users of the CCS transportation program; maintains order among passengers, explains passenger policies, provides directions, and assists customers.
• Assists riders to safely board and disembark the vehicle; exits the bus and assists passengers with special needs as required; stows and secures all mobility aids and recreational gear; assures that seat belts are in use at all times.
• Provides passengers with verbal and written information regarding transportation services, destinations, special announcements, and schedules.
• Operates a variety of transportation vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws, regulations and procedures; identifies and reports vehicle problems requiring additional maintenance and repair.
• Performs daily vehicle inspection and cleaning prior to beginning service.
• Assures all required written reports are completed and submitted on a daily basis; reports any operational problems to the supervisor in a timely manner, and completes other reports required.
• Cooperates with the investigation of any customer complaints; attends and successfully completes all training as scheduled by the supervisor.
• Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.
• Responds to emergencies as directed and performs tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies.
• Other duties as may reasonably be assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience working with elderly persons and persons with disabilities is desirable.
• A combination of training and experience that would indicate the ability to successfully accomplish duties and responsibilities.
• Must submit DMV Driving Abstract upon hire and every year thereafter.
• Must pass drug and alcohol testing.
• One year experience driving within a delivery system.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License with no moving violations in the past three years.
• Valid automobile insurance.
• Complete the First Aid/CPR training programs with 30 days of hire.
• Additional technical training may be required.
• Applicant must successfully pass required background clearances prior to an offer of employment.
• Demonstrated ability to read and follow a standard road map. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• General geographical knowledge of Lewis County.
• Skilled at driving one quarter ton or larger van.
• Ability to work well within a team structure developing and maintaining productive, collaborative relationships with staff as well as clients, customers and vendors.
• Ability to communicate clearly and responsibly with staff as well as clients, customers and vendors.
• Ability to be flexible, meet deadlines and work effectively under stress.
• Ability to represent Catholic Community Services in a positive and professional manner.

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
