Part-time position starting at $28.16 - $31.33/hr (D.O.E) ~30 hours/week.

 

Program Description

Project Rachel is recognized by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as the post-abortion healing ministry of the Catholic Church in the U.S. Introduced to Washington State in 1993, Project Rachel provides compassionate, confidential listening, referrals to trained priests and counselors and/or healing retreats to women and men across Western Washington.

 

Position Description

The Project Rachel Coordinator is responsible for providing direct service to women and men of impacted by abortion as well as the coordination of retreats, volunteers, outreach and awareness efforts.  This position leads the mission to offer an avenue of emotional and spiritual healing from the effects of abortion, provides information and training, and increases public awareness through educational presentations.

Responsibilities

Client Support

  • Provide direct assistance to people impacted by abortion as well as conduct intake and assessment for retreats.
  • Monitor the phone line and respond to inquiries regarding the program.
  • Provide information and referral for clients who have requests outside of the services of the Project Rachel.
  • Maintain timely input and upkeep of client records.

Coordinate Retreats

  • Schedule/coordinate Rachel’s Vineyard retreats: 4 per year English/2 per year Spanish, including facilities, food, priest ministers, and other volunteers.
  • Work with therapist consultant to prepare and execute retreats, including aftercare reunion for retreatants.
  • Conduct registration for events (trainings and retreats) and volunteer coordination of retreats.

Volunteer Recruitment and Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of volunteers and priests to serve as retreat team members in English and Spanish.
  • Process volunteer application paperwork.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise other volunteers in various capacities within Project Rachel such as answering the intake line, preparing meals, retreat supplies, office assistance and other.

Community Relations and Outreach

  • Implement outreach to Catholic community and develop promotional materials.
  • Establish partnerships with community agencies, Seattle Archdiocese, local faith communities, and service organizations to help promote Project Rachel through Western Washington.
  • Maintain active presence in region by representing the program and agency at community events.
  • Maintain active social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram) and grow online outreach.
  • Provide community education through formal presentations at churches and other groups.
  • Network with other service providers to ensure strong working relationships on behalf of clients and within the national Rachel’s Vineyard team.

Fund Development Support/ In-kind Support

 

  • Process donor receipts and acknowledgements in coordination with Fund Development office.
  • Coordinate 2 fundraising mailings/newsletter annually.
  • Oversee communication of Project Rachel program to funders, volunteers, and supporters.
  • Monitor invoices/statements from vendors for accurate billing.
  • Prepare Accounts Payable (check request) documentation for Accounting department.

General Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff, collaborative members, and community partners.
  • Maintain accurate record of hours worked and submit timesheets when due.
  • Attend trainings required of employees as scheduled.
  • Participate as team member in staff and supervisory meetings as required.
  • Contribute to and support a positive, team-oriented, culturally-diverse work environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Conditions

This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material.  Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, bedbugs, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance, building temperature fluctuations, dust, noise, and odors.  Working conditions include interruptions, crisis response, and regular interactions with individuals who are dealing with issues of chemical dependency and/or mental illness, or are experiencing anger or frustration.

 

Physical and Mental Acuity Requirements

  • Able to hear telephone rings, phone conversation and face-to-face conversation, door bells and emergency alarms.
  • Able to speak clearly in person and on the telephone.
  • Able to hand write legibly.
  • Vision that enables person to read normal size print and handwritten notes; and distance and peripheral vision than enables person to monitor living spaces and identify concerns that require staff response.
  • Able to sit for sustained periods of time.
  • Able to walk the entire building and ascend and descend stairs quickly to move from one floor to another in order to respond to emergency situations.
  • Mobility/dexterity of hands/arms to enable keying into a unit or other locked area as well as using computers and other office equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
  • Regularly able to perform duties as assigned.
  • Able to make independent decisions and apply sound judgment in performing job duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Theological Studies or related field.
  • Clinical skills to provide crisis intervention, facilitate retreats, and provide one on one emotional support. 
  • Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, registered in a Seattle Archdiocese parish.
  • Experience as a volunteer or employee in pro-life ministry.
  • Commitment to pro-life teachings of the Church.
  • Proven track record of recruiting, managing and retaining valued volunteers.
  • Knowledge of the impact of abortion.
  • Ability to provide public speaking.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Occasional evening and weekend shifts required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate well to clients and volunteers from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license or ability to get one with 60 days Valid WA state driver’s license, Insurance and access to insured vehicle for outreach and community meetings. Ability to comply with agency. employee driving policy.
