Under the supervision of the International Foster Care Program Manager, and the Clinical Director this position is part of a service team that provides for the welfare and mental health needs of immigrant and refugee children referred by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and placed into foster care. As Mental Health Specialist, this position will provide therapy services, trainings, assessments and recommendations related to the mental health needs and treatment of children placed in Long-Term Foster Care (LTFC). This is a 20-hour per week position with a client case load that varies from 1 to 12 clients, with the usual average of 6 clients. The Mental Health Specialist will also assist as a navigator for contracting outside services for children during times of influx, or other situations when back-up is needed. Some of the therapeutic services are office based, and some are community based to decrease barriers. The expectation is that driving will occur across counties a few times per week. The agency will issue laptop and cell phone to assist with community-based services. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
