The Program Coordinator provides case management to an average of 150 clients, coordinating long-term and/or one-time volunteer in-home assistance, providing information and referrals, and monitoring the delivery of services. The Program Coordinator manages a network of an average of 90 ongoing volunteers and 400 episodic volunteers annually who provide in-home support to older adults living with chronic health conditions and disabilities in Lewis, Mason and Thurston Counties. Responsibilities include screening program participants, home visits to determine scope of project, supporting clients with information and referrals, community outreach, volunteer recruitment, ongoing supervision of volunteers, and group project coordination.
Volunteer Services is a community-based service that provides free chore assistance for low-income aging adults 60 and over and adults 18-59 with disabilities, with the primary goal of ensuring that they retain dignity and residence in the familiar surroundings of their home or apartment. The program is unique in also serving individuals under age 60 who have disabilities. VS foster opportunities for social and civic engagement. VS ensures that vulnerable adults who cannot afford to pay for help they cannot complete on their own, and do not qualify for state paid services receive services that support their health and well-being, and allow them to remain living independently
