This shelter is for older people who are vulnerable to the weather, street predators, and illness. Participants run the entire spectrum of needs. Many clients have chronic and acute physical health, mental illness, active addiction issues, and/or trauma. Our mission is to provide a hospitable and low barrier shelter with a harm reduction model. This is to be done in the spirit of the ministry of presence, which fosters attention to the individual and respect for each person’s unique situation. St. Martin de Porres Shelter emphasizes moving people into permanent housing through case management.   The Program Manager will also oversee our Scattered Sites Program. This is a voucher based housing program that is currently contracted to house and maintain housing for 75 individuals. There are two Case managers in this program.   CCS is committed to making our services, our agencies and our communities free of the divisive and dehumanizing ravages of racism. We strive for anti-racist programming and practices by supporting racial equity and justice in our daily work.      Position Description The Program Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of St. Martin de Porres Shelter Program.   The Program Manager is responsible for staff supervision, regular recruitment and hiring of staff, management of volunteers, preparing and managing program budgets and spending, preparing funding applications, maintaining relationships with contract monitors, being the staff liaison to fundraising groups, local advocacy, and ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of the facilities. This position manages approximately $1.9 million of funding annually.   The Program Manager takes a lead role in advocating for increased low barrier harm reduction services and permanent housing opportunities that can accommodate this vulnerable population.  This requires managing strong relationships with community leaders and funders.    This position directly supervises the Operations Manager and Supportive Services Manager.

Three programs exist in the Bakhita Gardens building: Noel House Enhanced Shelter: 20 semi-private shelter units where homeless women can stay for up to a year while looking for permanent housing; Noel House Permanent Housing: 20 semi-private permanent housing units designed for women who have been homeless the longest and who have the most difficulty navigating systems; Rose of Lima House: 50 single-room occupancy units of Permanent Supportive Housing for women moving out of homelessness. Bakhita Gardens fosters a supportive, team-oriented work environment where each staff provides advocacy, information and referrals to the women using our services.    Noel House--Community Programs offers shelter, shelter referral and hygiene services to women experiencing homelessness.  They also operate an emergency shelter program for families in East King County. Approximately 200 women and families per day receive emergency services through Noel House Community Programs.   Position Description The Maintenance Technician II position will assist the lead maintenance tech. This position performs routine general building maintenance, grounds, maintenance, janitorial duties and unit turnovers; arranges and monitors outside contractor work at the property; assists with maintaining property security, immediately reporting problems to the property manager; seeks to provide tenants with a safe, positive and sanitary living environment; and performs these tasks with minimum supervision, while applying solid work experience in this area.
